Sir,
I am directed by the Governor to acknowledge
with His Excellency's thanks, the receipt of your letter Confidential
A. M. S. of the 13th. instant, and its enclosure, res- 2270 pecting the expenditure incurred on the suns voted by the
Colony for Fortifications.
I am to transmit to you the enclosed printed
correspondence on the subject of the Defences of the Colony;
and to enquire whether there is any objection to furnishing
this Government with a return of such of the works specifie
therein, as have been completed, with the cost in respect
of each; such as are in progress; and such as are not yet
commenced.
I am to add that this information will be
treated as Confidential, if necessary.
